Robinson Crusoe
As Vince has so elequently described, we spent as large part of yesterday floating down the Rio Napa on big bike tubes. Well some of us spent the best part of yesterday floating down the Rio Napa on big bike tubes, while others did less floating and more desperately scrambling over slightly submerged rocks.
It all started so well.....!
After our hike, we came to the edge of the river, to be provided with large inflatable rings, which we all quickly jumped into in various stages of undress. As one after another the group were whisked away by the strong current, I found myself to be last, but not phased by this, and with the words from our trusty tour guide in my head
"stick to the middle, it`s more fun"
I set off down the river.
Surprised at the numbers ahead of me keeping tight to the left hand side, I powered my way into the centre of the fast flowing Amazon, content with my efforts, and secretly quite chuffed with myself, I layed back to enjoy the view. Some 10 minutes later, when I looked up my colleuges had somehow magically turned themselves into migits, on a second glance, I realised I had got the small and far away thing mixed up again, they weren`t infact migits but a bloody long way down the river, and wait a minute! there seems to be a serious lack of flow to this river!
"Stick to the middle, its more fun"
Stick to the middle, it`s more fun for me to laugh at the poor mifortune of Gary, who`s managed to get himself stuck in the center of one of the biggest most powerful rivers in the world, on the only bloody reef in the whole river, on nothing but a jumped up, piece of rubber, with a valve, that continuoulsy bashing against rock after rock, as I scramble and pull my way across 30 meters of razor sharp stone, with nothing to look forward to but the open arms of the ever so helpful camp Wilfred who had so kindly waited back for me, so we could spend some quality time together in a romantic setting!
The rest of the trip was fine.
