Magic tricks explained - A cunning use of mirrors!
As Vince has so rightly points out, it´s nearly time for the off, the final push if you will, but in this case there´s no trench, tin helmets, worms up your feet, friendly chaps called Percy who was in some sort of mens group back in good old Blighty, mud coffee, dark blood soaked fields, bullets fizzing past our heads, or angry Germans, and in fact were off to do something which is actually pretty damn good, so maybe just ignore the final push analogy, and put it down to creative writing, when you´re not particularly creative.
It´s actually a little ironic, we spend the best part of a week in a city basically by ourselves(this obviously not because me and Vince find it hard to make friends), and just when were ready to move on to pastures new, we go and meet people.
Yes, you heard me correctly we actually socialised with other like minded souls, instead of spending our time in an internet cafe writing this bloody web site, well if I´m being honest it was just after we had been in the internet cafe!
There was a nice cosy, get to know you drink on the Hostel roof ($0.80 beer cropping up again), where we chatted for an hour or two, about where we were from, our likes and dislikes, and how we felt about art and politics and before we new it it was dark, and we had completely lost track of time.
From here we were whisked of to a beautiful romantic local resteraunt, where we dined on fried chicked and racks of meat, with the BBQ sauce still dripping off our lipstick covered lips (made this up, there was no BBQ sauce), we retired to the smoking lounge for a glass of wine, to talk into the small hours of the morning about our future plans and how perhaps if we believed in fate, maybe our paths would run a similiar line.
In the bleak reality of it, we got chatting to a couple of guys at the hostel, and the fun part, a girl on our trip, went out for ribs, then sat in the common room until 10.00 (a late night for us!)
Although I might have painted the story with a little more colour than the original, the day was still a very important day for us.
Why?
1) We actually got to talk to people who weren´t us, which is good for the sanity!
but more importantly
2) We found out that instead of one big yellow bus full of intrepid traveller types, there are in fact 2 big yellow buses. The numbers were so swollen with people wanting to holiday with us, that they had to lay on additional transport,
Questions over Vince and I´s ability to make friends - I THINK NOT!
